Welding Certification
Quality requirements and personnel qualification certification for welding fabricators and welders.
Welding is regarded as a “special process” whose quality cannot be fully verified by subsequent inspection. That is why quality in welded fabrication is assured through the right procedures, competent personnel and controlled production.
We plan and audit the welding certifications required by companies in steel construction, pressure equipment, machinery and metal fabrication.
Scope of welding certification
EN ISO 3834-2
Defines comprehensive quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials, covering welding coordination, procedures, personnel, equipment and inspection.
EN 1090
Governs factory production control (FPC) in the manufacture of steel and aluminium structural components and is required for CE marking of these products in the EU market.
TS EN ISO 9606-1
The standard for welder qualification in fusion welding of steels. Welders are certified through practical tests and examinations.
Benefits for your company
- Controlled, repeatable weld quality
- Lower costs from defective work and rework
- Meeting the requirements of the EU market and major project tenders
- Certified welder qualifications
- Material and weld traceability
- A strong foundation for customer audits
Frequently asked questions
Who needs EN 1090?
Manufacturers placing steel or aluminium structural components on the European market need EN 1090 factory production control certification as part of the product's CE marking.
What is the difference between EN ISO 3834-2 and EN 1090?
EN ISO 3834 defines quality requirements for the welding process, whereas EN 1090 covers the entire manufacturing process of structural components and their CE marking. The higher execution classes of EN 1090 also require compliance with EN ISO 3834.
How long is a welder certificate valid?
Under TS EN ISO 9606-1, the validity of a welder certificate depends on the revalidation method chosen on the certificate and on the employer confirming that the welder continues to weld regularly.
