Certification Process
From application to certificate and the surveillance that follows, we make every step clear from the outset.
Six steps from application to certificate
At every step we tell you in advance what we expect and what to expect, so the process runs without surprises.
-
01
Initial meeting and application
Together we define your company's field of activity, scope, sites and target standards. The application form confirms the scope details.
-
02
Quotation and contract
The audit duration is calculated based on scope, number of employees and number of standards; a transparent quotation is prepared and the contract is signed.
-
03
Stage 1 audit
Your management system documentation, legal compliance and readiness for the Stage 2 audit are evaluated.
-
04
Stage 2 audit
The effective implementation of the system is audited on site. Employees are interviewed and records and practices are examined.
-
05
Certification decision
The audit report and corrective actions are reviewed independently; the certificate is issued once conformity is confirmed.
-
06
Surveillance and recertification
Periodic surveillance audits are carried out throughout the validity of the certificate, which is renewed with a recertification audit at the end of the cycle.
Pre-audit checklist
- Your scope, policy and objectives are documented.
- Your processes and responsibilities are defined.
- A list of legal requirements is in place and monitored.
- Risks and opportunities have been assessed.
- At least one internal audit has been completed.
- A management review meeting has been held.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the certification process take?
The duration depends on the size of your organisation, its scope and how ready your system is. With a well-established system, the process can be completed within a few weeks. We prepare a tailored timeline during the initial meeting.
What do we need to prepare for the audit?
You are expected to have an implemented management system, its documentation and records, at least one completed internal audit and a management review meeting.
What happens if nonconformities are found during the audit?
Nonconformities are reported and you are given time to take corrective action. The certification decision is made once the corrective actions have been accepted.
How long is the certificate valid?
Management system certificates are generally valid for three years. Annual surveillance audits are carried out during this period, followed by a recertification audit at the end of the cycle.
How is the quotation price determined?
The number of standards, employees and sites, together with the complexity of your activities, determines the audit duration; the quotation is based on that duration.
Can we transfer our certificate from another body to VVB Belgelendirme?
Yes. After reviewing your valid certificate and most recent audit reports, we can plan the certificate transfer process.
